When it comes to consuming music, I am not a one genre fits all type of person. I listen to everything. Country, rock, EDM, Rap... You name it, I enjoy it. More and more I keep finding songs to jam out to on TikTok.

The app has evolved to so much more than lipsyncing and dancing to songs over the past year. I find myself trying life hacks, recipes, and more that are found on the social media app much more than I would have ever imagined.

Scrolling through TikTok yesterday, I found a video that I absolutely loved and I will admit, I am not really a fan of cover songs. The song that was covered by TikTok account unsafesunsound was "What Hurts Most" originally performed by Rascal Flatts:

Being a fan of country music, the original is obviously one of the best Rascal Flatts songs they have ever put out. However, this cover is pretty mind-blowing how well the original lyrics fit in what TikTokers have dubbed "Y'all-ternative". Take a listen to the snippet of the cover for yourself:

The cover of "What Hurts Most" by unsafeunsound went viral and numerous verified TikTokers have commented on the song. One of those verified accounts happened to be the bassist of Rascal Flatts, Jay DeMarcus.

What do you think about the cover? The lyrics are fitting for the emo/alternative genre without a doubt. I also think unsafeunsound captured the sound of the original and made it their own perfectly.

Rascal Flatts announced they would be going on a farewell tour in January of 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancelation of the tour. Gary LeVox, the lead singer of Rascal Flatts, told People Magazine that he hated the way it ended and hates that they didn't get to the farewell tour in an exclusive interview.
