Swetsville Zoo in Fort Collins Still Open – Todd’s Top Five Sculptures
I was a little distraught when I read in the Denver Post that Swetsville Zoo in Fort Collins might be closing down. I went there on Wednesday and there was no indication that the iconic attraction was shutting its doors any time soon. I may be wrong eventually, but right now it is business as usual. Even the "Heavy Metal Band" sculpture they claimed was gone, was still there. I called the Zoo's number and their message said they are open during "daylight" hours. There were plenty of folks visiting while I was there too.
You can find Bill Swets' one-of-a-kind metal sculptures made out of farm implements at Swetsville Zoo on Harmony Road just east of I-25. Although, technically, it is in Timnath (across from the Walmart), I still consider it one of Fort Collins greatest treasures and admission is free. I came up with my "Five Favorite Sculptures at Swetsville Zoo".
