Summer Activities Kids Love But Parents Hate

A few days ago, our summer babysitter bought Murphy a Slip ' N Slide. Murphy loved it, but I knew what was going down.

Some annoying toys are seasonal. Let's take a look at a few of the most annoying summertime activities.

Slip 'N Slide

Here's how the Slip 'N Slide works. You unroll it, stake it down in the grass, drag the hose over, and watch your child slide off the actual Slip 'N Slide into the grass once or twice, and then they go inside, and then it's time to roll it up and vow to never do it again.

It also kills the grass.

Water Balloons

I seriously cannot believe I once enjoyed water balloon fights. As a kid, it's all fun and games, but to a parent, it means picking up tiny, colorful pieces of rubber from your lawn.

Also, inevitably, a kid cries. Because someone hits them with a water balloon. Which is what the kid wanted in the first place.

A Lemonade Stand

This is something everyone did or wanted to do as a kid, because it's always been common knowledge that if you offer watered-down lemonade for $1.00 a cup, you'll have plenty of pocket money to buy other crappy summer toys.

It also means buying the ingredients, mixing them up, setting up a stand, and then taking it down. But your kid made $3.00, so I guess it's worth it.

Slime Making

No. Who came up with this? The slime craze has overstayed its welcome, but at least you could justify it by thinking your kid is doing a science project, but in reality, you're buying a jumbo-sized jug of Elmer's Glue, Borax, and a touch of food coloring that will end up staining your carpet.

So, yeah.
