Stolen Valor Laws Have Changed To Protect Certain Scumbags [VIDEO]

This is one of the most blatant displays of Stolen Valor I have ever seen. But, is it illegal to do what he does, or is going to do? Let's take a closer look.

I think we can all agree that Stolen Valor is one of the lowest things and person can do; man or woman. For those of you who aren't familiar with what Stolen Valor is, it's when a person who has never been in the military, wears a uniform and then pretends they have been. Usually they try to portray themselves as a combat veteran of some sort. The problem is that if you've never been in the military, you stand out like a beacon to those who have.

In years past, it has been a Federal crime to portray yourself as a member of the military. The consequences vary but usually always end with public embarrassment and/or or a severe beating.

After watching this video though from his YouTube page, I had to go research the law to try and figure out why this scumbag was so bold about it and his plans. Personally, I think he's all talk and no action but his actions in this video will probably make him an outcast in most circles regardless of wearing a uniform or not but I'm guessing he doesn't have many friends to begin with.

The law was changed in 2013 because just wearing a uniform with medals/awards and pretending you were in the military, prior to the change, was "an infringement of the constitutional right to freedom of speech." So now, the law states that you must profit from it. Take that for what it is, agree or not, which I don't personally but anyone can walk around in a uniform and "pretend" and as long as you don't profit from it, it's legal.

However, Stolen Valor is just that and when it's seen by those who have lost friends while wearing those uniforms, profiting doesn't really matter.

But, if you even take a free burger because that establishment wants to thank you for your service, it becomes a Federal crime and you can and will be prosecuted. It could even be just a can of pop/soda, if it was given to you free because of the uniform, your goose is cooked.

As for the dirt bag in the video below...good luck, but, I'm still willing to bet the tough guy behind the camera and will have a hard time ever showing your ugly mug in public for a very long time. If you have the stomach for it, you can see other videos on his page, all of them, a blatant disrespect for our military.
