The Weekend Colorado Sports Wrap-Up From A Woman Who Knows Nothing About Sports
I'm going to be completely honest regarding this article: I have no clue what I'm talking about. This really isn't shocking to many people because frankly, I usually don't know what I'm doing. This will be an education for me.
So let's dive in. Here's what happened in the world of Colorado sports this past weekend.
Let's Start with Basketball
- I can't even believe it myself, but I actually watched this game on Saturday night, and it had as much drama as one of the Real Housewives franchises. Naturally, being in the playoffs means high emotions because of what's on the line. A full season of fighting and winning to make it to the ultimate game. The Super Bowl. Here's what went down: the Denver Nuggets played the Minnesota Timberwolves. I was hoping the Timberwolves would lose A.) Because I'm from Colorado and B.) Because my ex-husband is from Minnesota and a fan. I'm petty like that.
- Sadly, Minnesota won. But that wasn't the drama I mentioned earlier. Julius Randall ran down the court and, very leisurely, did what's called a "lay-up". This upset a monster of a man named Nikola Jokic. So Jokic ran down the court and grabbed Randall. Apparently, that's a no-no, and Jokic was ultimately fined $50,000. But the other guy was also fined for being a real jerk.
Moving on to Baseball
- The extent of my baseball knowledge is the Savannah Bananas. So when I watched the Rockies play the NY Mets, the Rockies won 4-3. And then they played again on Saturday, and it was a washout, meaning it rained, and they had to cancel the game. Sunday was a doubleheader streak, and I have no idea what that means. It has to be exhausting playing back-to-back-to-back games, all with the ultimate dream of winning the big game. The Super Bowl.
Finally Hockey
- The Colorado Avalanche played the L.A. Kings, and the Rockies swept it by winning 5-1. This team is well on its way to the big game. The Super Bowl.
Not too bad for a chick with zero sports knowledge.
