Waylon Jennings was one of musical heroes. He was one of the first guys to make country cool to me. He has that long messed up hair, that odd hat and marched to his own beat. I loved that about him. He was a true original and the defined 'outlaw country'.

Yesterday Waylon would have turned 78 years old. He was taken from us way to early in February of 2002. There have been a lot of artists who have covered Waylon's music through the years and rocked it and some of them rather odd. I have a picked a mix of both to share to celebrate the memory of one of my all time favs.

Dwight Yoakam rocking "Stop the World and Let Me Off"

Chris Young and Willie doing "Rose in Paradise"

Kentucky Headhunters take on "Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line"

The Chipmunks try "Luckenbach, Texas"

John Mellencamp sings "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?"

Waylon himself with "I've Always Been Crazy"
