The creator of the world's spiciest pretzel is Grand Junction's Sean Roth. Here's how Sean got the idea to start his company and create the world's hottest pretzel.

We feel like we see these pretzels all over the place in the Grand Valley so we had the owner of the company come in to tell us all about it. Sean Roth says his mom inspired him to start his company because she used to make homemade pretzels all the time. Sean's mom used to make pretzels every year for Christmas and he still uses her original recipe.

Sean's wife, Kate Roth, who is a third-grade teacher at Lincoln Orchard Mesa Elementary School plays a huge role in his business. He describes her as the packager, labeler, and infamous taste tester. Sean says that when he makes her taste thing the pretzels if she spits it out, that means the product is almost complete.

Sean Roth is the creator of the world's hottest pretzel, which is called the  Grim's Challenge. He told us that it's made with Carolina Reaper extract and he has to make these pretzels with a gas mask on. The Grim's Challenge comes in a coffin, is estimated to be about 3-3.5 million Scoville units and we want to try it.

He gets inspiration for new flavors from a lot of different places, like his mom, his wife, and making bets with a coworker. A coworker once bet him that he couldn't make a pretzel any spicier, so Sean did and won the bet.

His advice for anyone starting their own business is to check out the business incubator in Grand Junction. Sean brought what he describes as a 'sick little game' for us to try, which is like Russian Roulette, but with Roth's Pretzels. Watch us play Preztel Roulette below.
