When you hear that a water park will have a hotel attached, you know it's going to be big. A project that's been in the works for six years is closer to happening.

Loveland used to have a pretty fun little water park, Crystal Rapids, that operated from 1993 to 2005. It was located off of Highway 34 (Eisenhower Boulevard) and Boyd Lake Avenue. We used to do remote broadcasts out there every summer.

Now, without having any water park in Loveland for over 15 years, Loveland is looking to bring in a BIG one. Currently named Whitewater Adventure Park & Resort, this water park might end up close to Highway 34 and I-25.

According to The Reporter-Herald, the City of Loveland, along with a developer based out of Arizona, had initially planned for the park to be in northeast Loveland, north of The Outlets at Loveland.

Now, the city, along with the developer, is looking to put the park east of Loveland Sports Park, near Highway 34, on 40 acres. If it all goes through and gets done, it'll be 40 acres of fun, with amenities including:

  • Hotel
  • Amphitheatre
  • Zip Lines
  • High Ropes Course
  • Olympic-Standard Swiming Channel
  • Conference Center
  • Cabana Island
  • Outdoor Deck
  • Adventure River

The project, according to The Reporter-Herald, has been having funding problems. They were granted an extension to mid-November of 2021 that stipulates that the Whitewater Adventure Park & Resort has secured funding or break ground on the project.
