Kiddos are back in the building for the end of the 2019-2020 school year, but not exactly how they imagined it. The COVID-19 pandemic prompted nine weeks of remote learning for the kids of Northern Colorado, but they were allowed back into the hallowed halls of learning one more time before summer break.

Last Thursday, the students of Lesher Middle School, in the Poudre School District, returned to school to clean out their lockers, return library books and musical instruments.

The Coloradoan has the story, sharing the words from sixth-grader Chloe Wilson, who said she was excited to volunteer and help with equipment returns, as it was an opportunity to see her friends again.

However, she was sad for the eighth graders who missed out on end-of-year traditions such as the talent show, award ceremonies and choir concerts.

Tom Dodd, the principal of Lesher Middle School, said, “We’ve got to find a way to get kids on campus."

He is worried about the 25% of Lesher students, which equates to about 200 children, who are not regularly engaging with their teachers, as reported by the Coloradoan.
