It's a crazy time for teachers right now: Those who are used to inspiring students in the classroom now have to get their messages across via Zoom chats. In the midst of all this, Shepardson Elementary School was faced with another difficult hurdle: hiring a new principal.

Wayne Thornes, previously Shepardson's assistant principal since 2015, was chosen to take over as principal at the end of the school year, when, according to a press release from Poudre School District, "current Shepardson Principal Alissa Poduska transitions to her new role as principal of PSD’s under-construction southeast elementary school, expected to open in fall 2021."

There's no word yet on how Thornes will help the school adapt to the recent changes due to the coronavirus, but his peers are excited to have him on board and leading the school in a brand-new direction.
