Peter Bouckaert of Purpose Brewing Tapping pH1, A Beer With History

It's been a wild week, from Bomb Cyclone Part 2, to...well, actually, that's pretty much been the wildest thing about this week. With flights and schools and Rockies games getting cancelled, it's no wonder we all need a drink. How about drinking a beer with a little bit of history?

Peter Bouckaert is a star in the sour world-- credited with starting New Belgium's famous sour beer program, Bouckaert left in 2017 to create Purpose Brewing & Cellars with the owners of 1933 Brewing, and has been churning out legendary beers there ever since. He's now running the brewery with former CooperSmith's Pub & Brewing head brewer Mike Hiatt.

Recently, Bouckaert found a sixtel keg of pH1, according to a press release. If you're unfamiliar, the pH1 barrel is one of the original nine from the start of New Belgium's sour beer program, and has traveled the country creating fantastic beer. Only recently did pH1 return to Purpose Brewing, where it has been aging a "honey-colored soft sour" for over a year.

Bouckaert and Purpose plan to tap pH1 tomorrow starting at 12:30 p.m., but it's only available for a limited time. You can learn more about pH1 right here.
