Flag Day is day that means more to the Alvarado family than most. Please join me in honoring Sgt. James "OJ" Alvarado, a local hero to many.

OJ Alvarado, always a United States Marine from Greeley, passed away suddenly and without warning on 1 June, 2014. SGT James "OJ" Alvarado was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines (2/1) Weapons Company at Camp Pendleton in California and also completed two overseas combat tours; his first to Iraq in 2009 and the second to Afghanistan in 2011.

His Father, Ignacio "Nacho" Alvarado is a friend of mine and has always honored our Armced Forces in many ways. Family and friends will again be honoring "OJ" and the Marine Corps with a memorial poker run on Sunday, June 14.

June 14 is the day I return home (actually hope to be home late June 13) from my 10,000 mile Honor Flight Endurance Ride and I plan on being there, without a doubt, so there are few excuses for you not coming out to show your support for not only "OJ" but the Marine Corps.

Most of the details on the ride are still forthcoming so this is just a reminder to please save the date to honor a great Father, Son, Brother, Husband and local Hero. To get updated on the ride, please click on the big red link below.
