This time of year, you never really know what type of weather you are going to get in Colorado. It could be sunny and 80 degrees one day, and the next, we could have a blizzard.

Mother Nature is weird like that in Colorado. The first weekend of May will be perfect spring weather that we all love. However, that is all going to change starting Monday, May 5.

Rain is on the way for much of the state of Colorado. As many will say, "We need the moisture," and they are right.  According to the National Weather Service, a spring storm system is expected to move into much of Colorado next week, bringing multiple chances for rain and thunderstorms through next Wednesday.

Some of these storms could be severe in the eastern plains of Colorado as the system passes through the state. The College of DuPage GFS numerical model shows that much, if not all, of Colorado could see significant rainfall through Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Parts of southeastern Colorado could see over two inches of rain next week. As for Northern Colorado, it appears that we will see the much-needed moisture that we have all been talking about.

The extended outlook forecast shows that Weld County could get as much as 1.28 inches of rain, and Larimer County could see a high of 1.77 inches in some areas. If you are planning on spending a lot of time outdoors next week in Northern Colorado, be prepared with the proper attire and possibly an umbrella and a raincoat.
