I've always been in awe of people who run long distances. I've tried everything to be a runner. Runners seem so disciplined, and they seem like they really have it together. I've tried running classes (I literally hid behind a car to get out of running a mile). And then I tried the Couch to 5k app. I did that for three and a half days, and I regretably still can't run a 5k. Running just isn't in my DNA. But you are one of those magical running creatures. Here are some upcoming races in Northern Colorado that I won't be running in, but you won't want to miss.

Here are the Races Coming up in Northern Colorado

  • One of the biggest races in Colorado is aptly named the Colorado Marathon Weekend, held in Fort Collins. Over the weekend, you can run not only a marathon, but also a half-marathon and a 5K. This race happens on May 5th, and if I start training now, I can make it from the parking lot to the starting line. That's it.
  • The Healing Warriors Program 5k. This is a race supporting veterans, which is really important. That's why I won't do it. Because it's one thing to let myself down and a whole other thing to let the veterans down. I'm not a monster. Happening on May 17 in Fort Collins.
  • Firehydrant 5k happens every year in Fort Collins, and it's a way to support animals waiting for a forever home in Northern Colorado. This 5k happens on behalf of the Larimer County Humane Society on Saturday, May 30th. I can't run in this race because I like animals, and once again, I can't let them down.

Those are just a few of the many races happening soon in Northern Colorado. Good luck, and maybe you'll see me on the sidelines cheering you on. Or maybe even driving to the race will make me too tired. I'll be cheering you on from my couch.
