National Weather Service Issues Flood Advisory for Larimer & Weld County
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the Poudre River near Greeley. That advisory was driven largely by rapid mountain snow melt.
On Sunday, the Poudre near Greeley was at 7.59 feet. Flood stage for the river is 8 feet.
A thunderstorm dropped more than 2 inches of rain on Weld County on Sunday night that resulted in a power outage for hundreds of Greeley residents.
Here is the official advisory from the National Weather Service:
The Flood Advisory continues for the following rivers in
- Cache La Poudre River at the Canyon Mouth affecting Larimer
- Cache La Poudre River near Greeley affecting Weld County.
Very warm temperatures have accelerated the snow melt in the Front Range mountains of northern Colorado producing higher stream and river flows. Flow levels are not expected to reach flood stage on the Cache La Poudre River through early next week. However minor flooding
of low lying areas along the banks of the Cache la Poudre is expected.
