WATCH: 5 Mountain Lions Spotted in Loveland, Colorado Driveway
A lot is happening in Northern Colorado right now. Multiple fires have residents on alert and we are all rooting for the men and women fighting the fires and trying their best to keep us safe.
A resident of Loveland's safety was put at risk due to a pack of mountain lions surrounding their home.
About the Mountain Lions in Loveland
According to 9News, the footage below is home security footage on the west side of Carter Lake. A total of five mountain lions were seen walking together in a Loveland resident's driveway.
The mountain lions that were spotted were not in any way, shape, or form related to the Alexander Mountain Fire. This footage was published on July 26.
The Alexander Mountain Fire began on July 29. We just wanted to ensure we are clear about that.
Mountain Lion Pack in Northern Colorado
A mountain lion sighting is not uncommon in Colorado, but a pack of five mountain lions is rare. In February of 2024, a mountain lion was euthanized due to recent attacks near Silverthorne. Typically mountain lions avoid any human interaction.
Generally, mountain lions do not form in groups or packs. Mountain lions are usually by themselves and this sighting is incredibly unique. Typically mountain lions will become more social when mating, hunting, or raising cubs.
Keep Mountain Lions Away From Your Colorado Home
We all obviously want to keep mountain lions away from our homes. The Mountain Lion Foundation recommends eliminating possible hiding places and removing food sources.
Personally, I would recommend installing lights that activate with movement. That was also a tip from the Mountain Lion Foundation.
You want to ensure that your home is not a comfortable place for mountain lions.
