Statistics from the past ten years show that CDOT has sees an average of around 3,300 reported wildlife hits each year in Colorado. Because Colorado has such an abundance of wildlife, and especially deer and elk, motorists needs to be aware that wildlife may be crossing the roadway without warning, at any time of day or night. CDOT also explains that if you see one deer or elk, you can likely expect others nearby.
