Loveland Voters Reject Marijuana Sales And Tax At The Polls

Loveland voters rejected legal marijuana sales at the polls this week after two ballot initiatives failed to pass.

According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, the two ballot measures, 2D and 2C would have allowed for the sale and taxation of marijuana within city limits. Ballot 2D posed the question regarding recreational and medical marijuana sales while ballot 2C would have allowed the city to tax sales up to 15%.

More than 52% of local residents oppose the sale while 51% oppose efforts to tax the substance. Recreational marijuana has been legal in Colorado since 2012 and recreational legal since 2000, Loveland banned all sales in 2011 with a city ordinance. The issue could be revisited during future elections.
