A Loveland man has been arrested and charged with a felony after mistaking employees of a roofing company for the activist group Antifa and holding them at gunpoint.

Thursday evening, Scott Gudmendsen, 65, called 911 and told dispatchers that two members of Antifa were going door-to-door in his neighborhood at 2400 Dawn Court, according to the Loveland Reporter-Herald.

Police say that once on the phone with 911, Gudmendsen told the dispatcher that he was going to find the activists and hold them for the police. When officers arrived, they found Gudmundsen wearing tactical gear and holding the men at gunpoint with a rifle. He also had two Glock semiautomatic pistols on his person.

The Reporter-Herald said the men were in their twenties and were door-to-door roof salesmen. They were wearing polo shirts with the company name, shorts and surgical face coverings. ESPN is reporting that one of the men held at gunpoint is a football player for Colorado State University.

Gudmundsen was arrested for felony menacing and false imprisonment. Later in the day he was released on bond from the Larimer County Jail. He is required to be back in court on Thursday.
