The use of outdoor dining during the winter is both paramount and difficult for lots of restaurants in Loveland. Luckily, now on a first-come, first-serve basis, any Loveland business can benefit from a fund to help with the costs of operating on patio/outdoor spaces.

The City of Loveland, along with the Loveland Downtown District, announced on February 24, 2021, that a $26,000 fund has been set up to help with businesses setting up dining, seating and other business outdoors due to the continuing pandemic restrictions.

The money will be given out up-front for uses such as heaters, tents (and tent repairs), tables and other items for conducting business outside.

The money is good for products/services purchased between February 3, 2021, and April 6, 2021. Businesses will need to return with receipts accounting for the granted money or will be charged by the City.

Obviously, $500 won't cover everything a business needs to entice customers to enjoy their patios, but propane isn't cheap and with spring and better weather on the way, this money could really help 'spruce things up.'

If you break out a calculator and do the math, you'll find that 52 businesses taking advantage of the grants will max out the fund. So, it will be interesting to see how many and which businesses take advantage of this grant. It will also be interesting to see what the participating businesses used the $500 for.

The Pourhouse spent about $800 on the fishing tents that they set up outside in November of 2020.
