Lime and Bird Scooters, Bikes Leaving the Streets of Denver
If you have been down to Denver over the last couple of years, you have probably seen people whizzing by on electric scooters, or a group of them near a busy street corner in the Mile High City.
Lime and Bird Scooters Leaving Denver
The two main brands of electric scooters you've seen recently are Lime and Bird. Soon, you won't see either one of these brands as the scooters will be picked up by the thousands over the next couple of weeks.
This doesn't mean you will no longer see electric scooters on the streets of Downtown Denver. A new California-based company will soon fill the void left by the departure of Lime and Bird.
Veo’s Contract and Pricing
Veo's contract with the City of Denver will start on Friday, May 1, and will last at least three years. Veo's scooter prices appear to be cheaper, with a $1 unlock fee and 25 cents per minute for Denver residents, while other users will pay 39 cents per minute. This sounds like it would be a welcome financial relief to those who use the electric scooters on a regular basis, as the current rates are 44 cents per minute.

Veo's scooters will use sidewalk-detection technology to warn scooter riders not to ride on sidewalks, per the council's approved ban on sidewalk riding. Riders will also have to take a photo showing the scooters parked in an area that does not block pedestrians.
According to the Denver Post, Veo also plans to fine users who repeatedly break scooter parking rules. More information on the new Veo scooters and how to book a ride on one in Denver can be seen at veoride.com.
