Around this time of year, we typically would’ve been able to live out our dreams of participating in a ‘Top Chef’ contest for the charity Life Stories, touring the world the best way we know how: through food. Unfortunately, we all know why that can’t happen this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t give some money to a good cause.

Life Stories, a child and family advocacy program that focuses on supporting abused and neglected children and their non-offending family members, has moved their annual ‘Top Chef’ event online in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Although participants won’t be able to sample a variety of delicious foods from local restaurants, the Virtual Top Chef of Northern Colorado will still be holding a silent auction (we’ve all been online shopping anyway, it may as well be for a good cause) and accepting donations.

According to Life Stories’ website, the Top Chef of Northern Colorado event is one that usually provides the majority of the program’s corporate and individual donations, which is especially important given that the organization expects there will be a surge in child abuse cases during the pandemic. As such, they need public support more than ever.

The silent auction will have new items added to it every day, and bidding will be open until 9 p.m. on May 10. If you’d like to register or donate to the cause, you can visit the virtual events website here. If you donate $25 or more, you'll have the option of 'planting' a blue pinwheel in the virtual garden at the end of the page.
