The Old Town Library in Fort Collins is Celebrating 50 Years with a Big Party!
I have such fond memories of going to the library in Fort Collins. Not the new library, even though that's a lovely place. I'm talking about the Old Town Library right smack dab in the middle of town.
Why I love the Old Town Library
Located on Peterson Street, this place has so many things I love. First, you have the huge mature trees. Perfect to stretch out on the grass and read under.
Second, you can find everything you need not only to enjoy reading but also for schoolwork. Need free wifi? They've got it. What about printers and paper? Yep. They even have laptops and computers available.
Why am I so pumped about the library?
It blew my mind today when I found out it's about to celebrate 50 years in the Fort Collins community. After opening way back in 1976, replacing the much smaller Carnegie Library, this has been the go-to for all book lovers.
The Carnegie Library was open to the public for over 70 years. Fort Collins has had some pretty amazing libraries. And with the opening of the Harmony library off of Harmony Avenue, locals have plenty of options.
Let's Party
To celebrate this amazing 50-year milestone, the Old Town library is hosting a big party on Saturday, October 17th. from 5:30-8. Here's the fun part: the party will be 70s-themed to commemorate its 1976 opening.
Wanna go? Here are some of the very cool things that will be happening at the party.
- Costumes are highly encouraged
- The opening of a time capsule from 1976
- A cake cutting at 6:15
- Themed activity stations beginning at 6:30
All ages are welcome, and registration is available on the Old Town Library website, but it is not required.
So come on out and join me to celebrate one of my favorite places in Northern Colorado.
