Larimer County Issues Warning About Missing Jury Duty Scam
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a scam involving missing jury duty. The scam states that the recipients of the phone call were a no show for their jury duty date.
The scammers are telling people that a warrant for their arrest has been issued and to purchase a money or gift card, then call back to give the number on the card to pay the fine to avoid being arrested.
These scammers are using names from public websites to obtain the names of police and sheriff personnel to use their names with spoofed numbers. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is telling anyone that gets a phone call like this to hang up and not call back any number that is left. Law enforcement will not call you to inform you that you have a warrant. They will also never ask for money over the phone or via email.
