June 2020 Was an All-Time High For Colorado Weed Sales
According to the Denver Post, Colorado set an industry record this June with recreational marijuana sales alone reaching over $150 million.
Be it 2020, or some other reason, marijuana sales are soaring this year during the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in May, 'cannabis sales in Colorado set a new monthly record...reaching their highest level since broad legalization in 2014,' Chicago Tribune reported. Dispensaries sold over $190 million in product.
That upward trend, according to the Denver Post, has continued through the summer. Combined with medicinal sales, Colorado sold almost $200 million in product in the month of June alone.
Likely, it's because more people are at home, and using more of their cannabis products, but there could possibly be a benefit. Right now, researchers are exploring the possibility that cannabis can help with COVID-19. While nothing is proven, CBS News has shared that anti-inflammatory properties found in CBD could help with some of the symptoms of COVID-19.
