UPDATE: Joan Rivers Dead After a Week-Long Coma
Joan Rivers has died. Rivers was listed in critical condition after a medical procedure a week ago and had been in a coma.

The USA Today has announced that Joan Rivers has died. The 81 year-old comedian died earlier today (Thursday September 4, 2014). She had been rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York last week after she stopped breathing during a medical procedure on her vocal chords.
Rivers passed away with her family and friends at her side. In a statement by her daughter, Melissa Rivers, she thanks the doctors, nurses and staff for their amazing care of her mother.
After a week-long coma and on life support, Rivers was stable enough yesterday to be moved out of ICU and into a private room.
