Felix Valasquez has been working for JBS Foods for 36 years.

Let that sink in for a minute — He has been working for JBS longer than Facebook has existed (it was founded in 2004). He started before anyone worried about Y2K and before the Berlin Wall came down in 1991.

A lot has happened during his tenure at JBS, but Felix appreciates the great coworkers and consistent work opportunities that have allowed him to support his family — and provide some extras, too. He loves spending time with his wife and grandchildren.

"My coworkers here that I have now, there’s a bond between us," he said. "We just talk about life, personal things, and just goof around. But we make sure that our job is first. We do it first and try to do it the best that we can and have friendships."

He prides himself on good attendance but appreciates the work-life balance JBS affords, too.

"There was a stretch there where I went 21 years and didn’t miss a day," he said. "I don’t like to miss unless I have to. I appreciate my supervisors that I have now and that I’ve had in the past because when I need a day off I’ll just ask them. They’ll give it to me right away without any question."

During his time with the company, Felix has worked in a variety of positions, and each one has introduced him to new people, new skills, and endless possibilities. Felix isn't the only JBS employee I've had the pleasure of meeting, and they all talk about how happy, proud, and grateful they are for the opportunities the company provides.

I've continually heard about the opportunities, diversity, teamwork, and respect they found at the company, and it's clear to me that JBS is making a positive impact on the lives of Northern Coloradans.
