With this in mind, it should come as no surprise to find that the state is also ranked as one of the highest when it comes to average life expectancy rates, though there is still room for improvement.

This places the Centennial State at number nine overall, with males living to roughly 77.8 years of age and females living an average of 82.2 years.

States that report higher life expectancy rates are listed as Washington, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Hawaii, and California.

It should be noted that while Colorado doesn't have the highest life expectancy rate in the country, the average life expectancy rate for adults in the Centennial State is higher than each of the states that border it.

Utah is ranked number 11 in the country, Nebraska is ranked number 17, Kansas is ranked number 30, Wyoming is ranked number 36, New Mexico is ranked number 42, and Oklahoma has the lowest life expectancy rate of Colorado's neighboring states at 44th in the nation.

However, of all 50 states and the District of Columbia, Mississippi has the lowest life expectancy rate at only 74.4 years.
