End of Summer Tradition Returns to Historic Colorado Abbey
Since 1924, a staple of Cañon City, Colorado, has been the Holy Cross Abbey. The large, Gothic Revival building initially served as a Catholic monastery which later included a boarding school for boys.

However, while the building has kept its beautiful yet intimidating outer appearance, the Holy Cross Abbey has since been converted into a winery that has been making its own traditions over the years.
One of these traditions takes place each year, including this year, during the last week of September is known as the Harvest Festival.
Cañon City Colorado's Holy Cross Abbey Harvest Festival
Between Saturday, September 28, and Sunday 29, 2024, Cañon City residents and out-of-towners alike will once again flock to the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey for the Annual Harvest Festival.
The event itself is free and includes plenty of food including cheeses, local produce, wood-fired pizza, roasted chiles, and more.
Of course, the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey will be serving up a variety of wines including Harvest Fest’s Riesling, a limited release to coincide with the festival. While entry to the festival is free of charge, those who elect to participate in wine tasting will have to pay an entry fee.
In addition to food and wine, the Harvest Festival will feature live music from Wayne Hammerstadt and Deja Bluz on Saturday, as well as jazz band Gentle Rain, followed by the band Deep Blue Sea on Sunday.
