Colorado's highest 14er mountain is Mount Elbert. Located in Lake County, the mountain reaches 14,433 feet overlooking Twin Lakes and the rest of the Sawatch Range. Colorado's highest point is more than 300 miles away from the state's lowest point.

The lowest point in Colorado is practically Kansas. The lowest elevation in the Centennial State is found in Eastern Yuma County along the Colorado/Kansas border. The point at which the Arikaree River crosses into Cheyenne County, Kansas, has an elevation of only 3,317 feet.

The Arikaree River flows for about 156 miles through Colorado, Kansas, and into Nebraska's Republican River. The point on the river that crosses into Kansas is located at 39°58′41″N 102°03′06″W, this spot is the highest "low point" of any state.
