I just returned from a trip to Romania and Bulgaria. In those countries, people literally park on the sidewalk. They don't kind-of-sort-of park on the sidewalk, as in two wheels on the curb and two in the street. No, they literally occupy the sidewalk with their vehicles.

The website Laws remind us it is illegal to park on railroad tracks. Thanks for the heads up. Did you know, however, in Colorado, it is illegal to park your vehicle within 20 feet of a fire station driveway? I certainly didn't remember that. Actually, I'm not sure I ever knew that.

Consequences of Illegal Parking In Colorado

The financial consequences associated with lackluster parking vary from community to community in Colorado. According to the City of Grand Junction website:

The Police Department issues parking tickets. Most parking tickets are $15 for overtime parking or $20 for illegal parking. Be aware, however, that if the ticket remains unpaid, late fees are added to the original fine at $10 each week.

Many Colorado laws regarding parking fall well within the realm of common sense. Many fall well within the category of common courtesy. Some, however, don't present themselves every day, and as a result, can slip through the cracks.
