It was a historic 20th season for our Colorado Eagles, indeed. And although we didn't bring home the AHL's Calder Cup this season, we have plenty to be excited about moving forward.

Colorado Eagles Season Comes To An End After 5-0 Loss To The Firebirds

During Game 5 in the best-of-five series this past Friday, the Coachella Valley Firebirds ended our 20th season. Quick game re-cap, the Firebirds netted a pair of goals in the opening 6:50 of the game, while their goaltender, Joey Daccord, stopped all 33 shots he faced, as the Firebirds defeated the Colorado Eagles 5-0. The Firebirds now move on to the Pacific Division Finals. A series that we were so hopeful that we'd see our Eagles playing in.

Looking back to October when it was announced that I (Big Rob) would be returning to the Colorado Eagles as the In-Arena Host for the 20th season after a year away, I could not have been more excited or optimistic about this season. The fans were loud and wild like always, the team, despite dealing with injuries in our club and with the Colorado Avalanche, continued to grind and battle as they always find a way to do. All of the pieces were there to really make something special happen as we celebrated 20 years of Colorado Eagles hockey. Sadly, the season did end much earlier than we all had hoped, but we're still so thankful for the amazing fans.

On a personal note, part of what I missed the most when I didn't do the games last season, was the fans. I've always described the Eagles fanbase, or as it's lovingly known, Eagles Country, as extended family. People you don't see every day but when you do see them you get excited, and visa versa. The support this team has, and the overwhelming love I felt with my return, reminded me of something that I've known for over a decade, there simply are no better fans in all of hockey than the ones right here in Northern Colorado.

Thank you for the love and support you give this team year in and year out. We're already getting to work to make the team, and the show inside of the arena, the best it's ever been. With a new arena name coming this fall, and a new Public Address Announcer with Reed Saunders' retirement, there will be a lot of "new" this next season, but one thing will always remain the same, our commitment to winning championships and providing family-friendly entertainment and fun right here in Northern Colorado. Thank you again, Eagles Country, and Go Eagles.
