Colorado Eagles Soar Through Game 1 In OT Thriller
The Colorado Eagles kept us up late on Wednesday night at the Budweiser Events Center, but it was well worth it as we witnessed a true overtime thriller ending.

Colorado Eagles Win Game 1 In Round 1 Of The Calder Cup Playoffs
It was a packed, completely sold-out Budweiser Events Center as the Colorado Eagles hosted the visiting Ontario Reign for Game 1 of the first round of the 2023 AHL Calder Cup Playoffs. It was a very evenly matched game the whole way through as both defenses were there to win. We'd see a 2-2 tie at the end of three periods so we were gonna need a little more than regulation time to lock this puppy up.
There are no ties in the AHL in the postseason, meaning they'll play sudden-death overtime hockey for as long as it takes to get a winner. Do you remember years back when the Eagles went into triple OT? The game ended around midnight when former Eagles great Darryl Bootland slammed home the winning goal, sending the exhausted crowd home happy. While it wasn't triple overtime on Wednesday, the outcome was just as exciting.
Colorado Eagles Win 3-2 In Overtime Over The Ontario Reign
Colorado forward Gustav Rydahl made the crowd at the Budweiser Events Center light up with joy at just 6:08 into overtime, giving the Eagles to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Ontario Reign. The Eagles now have a 1-0 series lead in the Pacific Division Quarterfinal series. Game two will take place tonight at 7:05 to another soldout crowd. If you don't have tickets, you can hear every game live on Townsquare Media's 99.9 The Point, with the Voice of the Colorado Eagles, Kevin McGlue. If the Eagles win tonight, they move on to round two. If not, a deciding game three will take place at the BEC tomorrow night at 7:05. Go Eagles.
