While the Broncos have been one of the more inconsistent teams in the NFL for going on a decade, one player has stood out as the current face of the franchise and earned that bag as the Denver Broncos officially backed up the money truck to lock him down through the 2029 season.

When you think of the many “faces” of the Denver Broncos for the last few decades, we’ve had our share of some phenomenal players. From Hall of Fame Quarterbacks, star wide receivers, and running backs on the offensive side of the ball, to some of the very best defensive players in the game. The Broncos have been pretty spoiled over the last 40 years.

While the Broncos have had their fair share of stars over the last few years, one player has raised his hand above the rest as not just one of the most consistent players on the Broncos since he was drafted, but one of the best and most consistent in the league, so why wouldn’t we lock him down as a Bronco?

After being drafted at number nine overall by the Denver Broncos in the 2021 NFL Draft, Patrick Surtain II, also known as PS2, has locked down some of the greatest receivers in the game week after week, and year after year consistently since his Orange and Blue debut.

Now as we’re set to kick off his 4th season here in Colorado, the Broncos have announced that PS2 is here to stay as they’ve agreed to terms on a new four-year extension that will kick in at the start of the 2026 season.

Over the 2026 through 2029 seasons, he’s set to make $96 million, with $77.5 of that guaranteed. That makes Pat the highest-paid defensive back in NFL History.

Sure, it’s a lot of dough, but the man has earned it. Even though all of the trade noise, and the bad seasons, he remained the most consistent part of the Broncos week in and week out, and now he’s about to get paid.

Kudos to George Paton for not only seeing this incredibly talented player and bringing him to us in the 2021 Draft but also for helping get a deal done to keep him here in Denver for at least the next 6 seasons. Sean Payton and Owner Greg Penner also see the PS2 potential and are all aboard the Surtain Express.

The Broncos also named Surtain one of the team's Captains for the 2024 season this week, which is his first time as a Captain for the Broncos. It’s time to watch this young man shine this season and help keep that defense on LOCK. Go Broncos!
