
Water Main Break in Fort Collins Shuts Down Lemay Ave.
If your commute in Fort Collins includes traveling on Lemay Ave. between Harmony and Horsetooth, well... you need to find a different way this morning.

A water main break yesterday closed a portion of the busy street, and it remains closed as of this morning (June 12, 2025).
The City of Fort Collins Utilities department reports that crews were dispatched to a water main break at Lemay and Breakwater Drive yesterday, and were forced to close Lemay between Harbor Walk Drive/Ticonderoga Drive and Whalers Way/Wheaton Drive.
As a result, traffic is being diverted around the area and detoured primarily to Timberline Road.
If you live in that area, you may be experiencing a an outage as a result. There is currently no timeline on its repair, however once the water service is restored customers might experience some cloudy or discolored water.
The City of Fort Collins says that for starters, you should wait to use the water until after the repairs are complete. But once the work is done, you may still experience some cloudy or discolored water for a period after the repairs are made.

They say the water isn't dangerous, but may stain laundry if used to wash clothes.
They also say that you should remove any water filters until the water is running clear again, and that you should run cold water through your faucets for 10-15 minutes to give it a chance to clear.
If it doesn't improve, you should contact the Fort Collins Department of Utilities at 970-221-6700 to report your conditions.
