Fans of a popular restaurant in Northern Colorado were shocked to hear the news that after five years, the restaurant was closing. What's next for Ted's?

How Long Was Ted's Sweetwater Grill in Windsor Open?

It was a big day in May of 2020 when Ted's Sweetwater Grill officially opened to the public at the RainDance community. With RainDance being fairly isolated, having a restaurant as part of the community was well appreciated. It also made for a great "destination dining" spot for the Northern Colorado area.

Early upon its opening, Ted's Sweetwater Grill & Taphouse had trout stocked in its pond outside that people could fish for.

Ted's Sweetwater Grill & Taphouse had seen at least one makeover in its five-year span, including adding that neat little taphouse in 2023, featuring a John Deer tractor. Even in early September of 2025, they were excited about unveiling a new menu; things seemed to be on track for the restaurant.

On September 8, 2025, Ted's Sweetwater Grill announced that they'd stopped restaurant service (along with the taphouse) until further notice. The space would remain available for events, but nothing more.

I spoke with the team at Ted's and they explained that they'd be taking 60-120 days to really consider what the community needs/wants in the way of what the space could become.

It is not the end... it'll be the next chapter.

What's Next For Ted's Sweetwater Grill?

It's hard to say what's going to happen, as they said they are working on the "next chapter" for Ted's. Will it reopen as Ted's Sweetwater Grill with a different "vibe," or will the space become something entirely different, such as a coffee shop? Many of their Facebook followers were sad about the closure, but excited to see what the space will become.
