It takes a lot of work and courage to open your own cafe in any Colorado town; one in the small town of Windsor gave it a shot for a couple of years; but sometimes, even with all the work you put in, sometimes things just don't work out.

Windsor Location Struggles to Keep Businesses

In Downtown Windsor, not far from successful restaurants The Hearth, Windsor Mill Tavern and Tiho's, is an address that has struggled to keep smaller eat/drink places open: 205 4th Street. For four years Toast Coffee & Wine Bar gave it a pretty good run, but eventually left.

Coffee, Food, Wine & Cocktails Spot in Windsor Shuts Down

Shine Cafe came to 205 4th Street in 2023, offering a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, coffees, smoothies, beers and cocktails. The space has always been a welcoming spot and Shine Cafe continued that "vibe." There just weren't cute little places like Shine, especially in Downtown, but after nearly three year, the owner announced Shine's closure.

The cafe also sold some retail items, such as mugs, scarves, candles, frames and such. I've been into 205 4th Street, it's great that the owner had made such great use of what is not a big space. One of the best things about the space, is/was the seating by the window, looking out onto 4th.

Why Did Shine Cafe in Windsor, Colorado Close?

In owner Caroline Walker's message, she stated that there were some "personal matters" that needed her attention. While that is very concerning, it does feel good to know that the cafe was doing OK as a business. That does bode well, if someone might be thinking of continuing with a cafe at 205 4th Street.
