Loveland Has a 100-Year-Old Farm That Creates One of America’s Best Whiskeys
There are more than a few distilleries in Colorado, but it's fun to find out one in Loveland has a whiskey that was deemed "America' Best."
Root Shoot Spirits in Loveland Voted 'America's Best Single Malt' Whiskey
According to the Denver Post, a distillery I'd never heard of until they announced the news, Root Shoot Spirits, was voted as having the best single malt whiskey that's made in America at the 2025 London Spirits Festival.
How neat is it that a little place in Loveland gets a big nod from "across the pond?"
The Olander Farm began operating in Loveland in 1926. As of 2025, 700 acres of the farm are for Root Shoot Malting, growing barley specific to the needs of the brewers and distillers it serves, including Root Shoots Spirits
The Olandar Farm in south Loveland, west of I-25 along Highway 60, has been around since 1926. In 2016, a part of the farm became Root Shoot Malting, supplying barley, wheat, rye, and non-GMO corn to craft brewers and distillers.
Aged for Four Years, It's the Only Spirit They Make
Root Shoot Spirit's Single Malt Whiskey is the only spirit that they produce (as of spring 2025,) so it comes as little surprise that they do it "right." It doesn't have to be complicated, right? "Do one thing and do it right."
