If you've ever donated blood, sometimes it's tough not to wonder where your blood ended up and if it helped save someone's life. Odds are it did, or at least went to someone who needed it.

And such is the case for more than 500 blood donations that ended up saving a Colorado man's life after a horrific motorcycle accident.

Fox 31 in Denver tells the story of Nicholas Jackson, who was in a bad accident on June 15 a year ago, where he was thrown from his motorcycle after hitting some gravel on the road, and was thrown into a nearby field. He suffered traumatic brain injuries, several broken bones and severe abdomen injuries.

When found, he was taken to HCA Health One Swedish Hospital, where he was given very little chance of survival. Yet, thanks to those more than 500 blood donations totaling a whopping 274 units of blood given to Jackson, he ultimately survived.

Tomorrow, June 14, 2025, is World Blood Donor Day. The World Health Organization says its purpose is "to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood."
