An affordable living community opened in Windsor in 2025. As the years will go by, and thousands of Coloradans will live at that senior community, the memory of a Windsor resident will always be a part of it. They even have a statue dedicated to him out front.

Many Coloradans would agree that living in Colorado is expensive, especially for older Coloradans living below a given area's median income. That's where affordable housing for those over 55 come in, such as Jacoby Meadows in north Windsor. where those that qualify pay a reduced rent. In addition, residents get to gather with other 55+ community members. It can be read godsend for those older adults who are healthy, but don't make a ton of money.

What really makes this community in Windsor stand out, is that it's named after a former Windsor resident who was shot while riding his bike in town. John Jacoby, known as "Johnny," was a legend around the town of Windsor; a giving soul who loved to ride his bike, usually with a small cart trailing behind him. On May 18, 2015, while riding his bike, Johnny was shot twice and was killed at the age of 47; as of October of 2025, the case remains unsolved.

Jacoby Meadows can be found along the same Weld County Road that Johnny was gunned down, WCR 15. With its opening, there were 64 units of affordable housing for seniors; once fully completed, the community will have 125 units. Windsor is a great town, and north Windsor is a beautiful area. You have to think that Johnny would be honored to see his name attached to it.

In 2016, a memorial was created to honor Johnny: a statue of him on his bike with his cart (carrying a Cross,) behind him. With the opening of Jacoby Meadows, that memorial was placed outside the main entrance for all to see.
