Driving on the Colorado highways you get to see lots of things: Animals, scenery, the snow coming down, and road signs.

What's the story with this "Hula Hoop Guy" sign you find in Colorado?

In Colorado, like other states, you'll see signs for "falling rocks," maybe "falling ice," "curves ahead," and things like that, but only in Colorado will you find more than a few of these "Hula Hoop Guy" signs. Is there a hula party coming in 5 miles?

IS 'THE HULA HOOP' GUY IN COLORADO ABOUT GETTING EXERCISE?

No. Though Colorado is a top state for fitness, nobody is modifying our road signs to get more people to hula; however, a 30-minute "hooping" session can burn at least 150 calories.

In 2022, The String Cheese Incident was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame after nearly 30 years of existence. The band started out in Crested Butte/Telluride in 1993, playing for lift tickets.

Since then, they've not only played many "groovy" gigs but also been strong proponents of bands being independent of major record labels and ticket distributors.

Today, the band is definitely about the hula hoop; they even hold "Hulaween" concerts. So, it was only a matter of time before their fans found a way to "spread the vibe" of the band.

These have popped up all over Colorado, mostly in the mountain towns. It must have been very fun to be the first to come up with the idea; "hippies" can be very creative.
