It's always fun when a home improvement show comes to Colorado to film an episode or two. A couple, who live in a suburb of Denver, were "ambushed" while shopping in Johnstown by Jonathan Knight from New Kids on the Block.

HGTV Show Reboots and Comes to Colorado for First New Season

For nearly 20 seasons on HGTV there was a show, "Crashers," where the host ambushes people who might need work around the house. If they agree, they move out for three days and the work gets done for a classic "OMG" reveal at the end of the episode.

In June of 2026, "Crashers" re-booted with Jonathan Knight as the host. Not only is Jonathan a member of New Kids on the Block, he did host a HGTV show, "Farmhouse Fixer" from 2012-2024. In May of 2026, they shot one of the first 13 episodes of the new "Crashers" in Johnstown and Wheat Ridge.

I'd heard that the show had been at the Sherwin Williams location in Johnstown (near Scheels,) and thought how neat it would be for someone from Johnstown to be on the show. I watched the episode, which officially aired on July 27, 2026; though the couple was "ambushed" at that Johnstown Sherwin Williams, they live in Wheat Ridge. It was still a fun story, though, I thought.

It was fun watching Jonathan try to find someone inside that Sherwin Williams who'd agree to the terms - the person gets no say on what the show will do. One man, was eager, but he was working on a room for his young daughter and there was no way she couldn't have a say in what her room would look like.

Then, he finds a young couple looking at paint samples; they agree that show can fix up their attached one-car garage. The show goes to their home in Wheat Ridge, where the couple talks about how their dining is too small and the garage is full of just "junk."

Furthermore, Mothers Day was approaching, and they wanted enough space to host people. The couple moves out for three days, and "Crashers" goes to work.

HGTV Renovates Wheat Ridge Couple's Dining & Garage for Free

Jonathan, along with a designer, a contractor (and crew,) turned that small dining and "junky" garage into a whole new dining/bar area (after taking out a wall.) They installed all new appliances for the bar, a fireplace and more; all for free, I guess. Sherwin Williams' sponsorship must cover it.

"Crashers" is a fun show; Jonathan does a great job.
