As of mid-July of 2026, there was definitely something new happening in Downtown Loveland. A Colorado church had moved into its new building, within the Metrolux Theater.

Is the Downtown Metrolux in Loveland Still a Movie Theater?

When word got out that Crossroads Church in Loveland had bought the building that was home to the Metrolux Dine-In at The Foundry in Downtown, many had questions. "What will happen to The Metrolux?" was one of the top questions; "Will it become a homeless shelter?" was another.

As of the middle of July, it would seem that it is a "side-by-side" relationship: The two entities exist within the same 24,000 square-foot space. Church services happen early, movie screenings happen (mostly) later.

Sermons and Movies Happening at the Same Time?

When you consider that there are seven theaters within the Metrolux, you can see where Crossroads Church could use four of them, leaving three open for 11:00 a.m. movie starts. In the afternoon/evening, the entire seven theaters would be showing films. I could see where the movies that start early would be restricted to ones that aren't too loud.

I think that I'll be stopping by on July 19 to see if I can get a real feel for how the two exist, together. It could very well be, that the Metrolux will eventually (maybe sooner than later) vacates the building, leaving only the church. In the meantime, summer blockbusters and messages of hope seem to be current operating plan.
