$500,000 Roundabout Coming to Major Intersection in Windsor, Colorado
It seems that we see more and more Colorado cities and towns making the decision to go with roundabouts as opposed to traffic lights. Windsor has been installing them for several years; one announced in early 2026 will be a a major intersection.
Roundabouts Getting More and More Popular, Especially in Loveland
If you drive around Loveland, you'll find that the city has taken quite a shine to putting in roundabouts; they've seen the advantage that they can provide for more than a few years. If you drive from Highway 34 on Rocky Mountain Avenue to Crossroads Boulevard, you'll go through five roundabouts; it's a lot of circles, but it does make traffic flow better.
Crossroads Boulevard plays into the roundabout coming to south Windsor; they're going to take out the 4-way traffic lights at Crossroads Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard and install a $500,000 roundabout.

Crossroads and Colorado do handle a lot of vehicles every day; whether its everyday commuters traveling back and forth from Highway 34 into Windsor, or OTR truckers (like for Walmart.) "Stop and Go" traffic, with stoplights, can not only slow the flow of traffic, but can put wear and tear on vehicles. Though unexpected, a roundabout there does make sense.
Features of the Crossroads/Colorado Roundabout:
- Pedestrian Crossings:
- Dedicated Bike Lanes.
- Connections to the Poudre River Trail and to Eastman Park.
Where Did the Money Come From For this Big Roundabout in Windsor?
The $500,000 for the project came from $14.75 million in water and infrastructure projects across Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, spearheaded by Congresswoman Lauren Boebert. They're expected to start work on installing the roundabout in the summer of 2026.
