Colorado State University has some great teams that play within their beloved Moby Arena. For a few years, fans have been allowed to enjoy beer and wine within a selected area of the arena. That will be changing.

Whether you are into Colorado State Rams Men's Basketball, Colorado State Rans Women's Basketball, or Colorado State Rams Volleyball, you now have even more reasons to head to Moby and route those teams on.

When you're at Moby Arena seeing the RAMS play, and they are on fire, the 8,083-capacity gym experiences "Moby Madness," and it's great. It's great for the players and it's great for the fans. A new upgrade at Moby is great, as well.

RELATED: COLORADO STATE APPEARS TO GET REFERENCED IN 'THE LAST OF US'

Colorado State Men's Basketball joined the Western Athletic Conference in 1969; that wouldn't have happened if the university hadn't installed what is today's Moby Arena. For four decades before that, they played at the South College Fieldhouse. They knew if they wanted to move up in stature, a new gym was necessary.

At that time, they let the students decide on what to call the new gymnasium with names that referenced how the arena looked.

SOME NAMES THAT WERE SUBMITTED:

  • The New Gym
  • The Pumpkin Palace
  • The Saddle
  • Ramnasium
  • White Whale

White Whale, is very close to the name that the gym took on, Moby Arena.

While the RAMS didn't join the WAC until 1969, they did begin using Moby Arena in January 1966. 53 years of Men's Basketball, along with Women's Basketball and Volleyball later, Moby allowed alcohol to be consumed at games; but only within a designated area, the "FNBO Moby Loft."

WHAT IS THE NEWEST CHANGE TO GAMES AT MOBY ARENA?

Colorado State's Director of Athletics has announced that beginning with the 2023-2024 season, for (Men's and Women's) Basketball, and Volleyball, all ticket holders 21+, will be able to bring beer and wine to their seats, as opposed to having to stay up in The Loft. In addition, The Loft will be upgraded.

That's a great Aggie deal.
