This morning I got to talking on the air about not being able to contain my excitement over awaiting DNA test results for my rescue dog, Bosun.

I adopted him last fall, after having to send my old best pal Charlie over the 'Rainbow Bridge' about a year ago now. That was a rough couple weeks, as my young daughters struggled through the grieving process.

Well, they finally convinced me to get another pup and I adopted Bosun at the beginning of September. He's about a year old, making him the first non-puppy aged pup I've ever adopted. He's a little crazy, but we're working on it.

If you're wondering, by the way...

A "Bosun" is a ship's officer in charge of equipment and the crew. If you've ever watched Below Deck, and let's be honest - you know you have - then you know what a Bosun is. I'm a boat guy, and he's my right hand dude, therefore the name "Bosun" made a ton of sense. It's just a shame I always have to explain it to people, but I digress.

Here he is with my daughters last fall, looking like the toughest gang on the playground.

Anyway, people have been trying to guess his breed forever. The rescue listed him as an "American Blue Heeler," so he was an easy sell to my daughters by saying he was an American version of the Bluey family.

But since then, people have been taking a million different guesses as to what he may be, some of them name dropping breeds I've never even heard of, like a Catahoula Leopard Dog, for example. Though I admit, I do see the resemblance.

Some friends gave me a DNA test for him for Christmas, and I've finally gotten around to sending it off, and should have the results in a couple weeks, which I'm excited about.

So what breed do you think he is? I'm curious as to your thoughts as well and will give you a little shout out on the radio if you're right, when the results are in. You can email me your guess at chris.kelly@townsquaremedia.com.
