New Gun Laws for Colorado Signed Into Order by Governor Polis
The country can seem very divided at times, especially when it comes to the Second Amendment. For may Coloradans, putting more laws into effect will feel like their liberty is being stripped; for many others, the laws may ease fears.
Colorado's gun laws date back to 1876 when the state became the 38th state and included a provision in the state constitution that gave citizens the right to bear arms but prohibited carrying concealed weapons
According to Ammo.com statistics there are at least 7,750,00 firearms in the state of Colorado as of 2025. With that many, the better we keep track of who can get a gun, and how they use/store that weapon, becomes very important.

Colorado has definitely seen it's share of incidents involving guns, including the Columbine Massacre, the Aurora movie theater shooting, the Boulder King Soopers shooting, and the Club Q shooting. Many will argue more laws wouldn't have prevented those incidents, while others would feel different.

The Colorado Sun published a thorough rundown of 12 laws that passed the democratically-led legislature and were then signed by Colorado's Democratic Governor, Jared Polis.
Those "on the other side of the aisle" probably have a lot of problems with the laws, but they'll have some time to adjust to a few that don't go into effect right away.
