It's always felt a little weird that you have to pay money to access your money from an ATM.

Visa & Mastercard, two of the largest digital payment companies in America, have been accused of unlawful surcharges on ATM transactions, and have agreed to pay out a settlement to those ATM users effected.

The class-action lawsuit states that Visa & Mastercard teamed up with a few banking establishments to make sure that ATM fees stayed high all across the board.

The settlement benefits people that paid an unreimbursed ATM access fee directly to JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, Bank of America or banks that are members of the Visa and/or Mastercard ATM networks between Oct. 1, 2007, and July 26, 2024.

It's a boat-load of money too -- and they have extended the dates for you to claim your share of the loot.

In the past, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America agreed to settlements totaling $67 million to resolve their liability in the case.

Now, Visa and Mastercard agreed to additional settlements to resolve the claims against them. Visa will contribute $104.675 million, and Mastercard will contribute $92.825 million for a total settlement fund of $197.5 million.

That adds up to a hefty payout for the consumer -- but chicken scratch for the two corporations who, together, net almost $63 Billion dollars per year. Despite these companies' massive yearly revenue, lawsuits like this one show how big companies still try to skim more off the top of Americans' wallets.

If you believe you're effected by this, you have just over a month to fill out the necessary information online to see if you can get your share of the money owed. The cut off date to file is Nov. 22, 2024.
