Greeley recently passed the 100,000 population milestone. Greeley Unexpected is throwing a community party on Friday, September 11 to celebrate. They are calling this free event, SuperBig! It features a free Friday Fest concert and fun activities for the whole family, including monster pong, sidewalk chalk, silly photo booth, and bean bag toss giveaways on Greeley’s downtown 9th Street Plaza from 5 to 10 p.m. The Hazel Miller Band will perform a fun mix of music from 6-9 p.m.

Since I didn't have time to plan a party, I decided to come up with my "Five Favorite Things about Greeley."

The Colorado Model Railroad Museum at the Greeley Freight Station is at 680 10th Street. It is an awesome model railroad museum that has a 5,500 feet of model trains and towns and trees. The museum also houses the historic C&S Caboose and 600 railroading artifacts. You truly have to see it to believe it.

The Union Colony Civic Center is northern Colorado’s premier performing arts venue. The UCCC is home to two performance venues, Monfort Concert Hall and Hensel Phelps Theater. I have hosted dozens and dozens of concerts and events at the theater over the past two decades. The past two years we have performed our Habajeeba Show there.

2. Greeley Stampede

Greeley Stampede is held every year at Island Grove Park leading up to the 4th of July. It's always my favorite event of the year. I love the concerts! I love the rodeos! I love the demo derby! I love the food! I love the Wranglers. I love the committee. I love the people I only see at stampede time. There is not much I don't like about the Stampede!

I have tons of friends who live in Greeley, including Brian.  He is my partner, my brother, and my friend and would have been at the top of my list by himself. Throw in the rest of my friends and my favorite thing about Greeley is the people. It's an easy #1.
