I have said before that I have been fortunate enough to do a lot of really cool things in my life but today ranks way up on the top of the list if not topping my list of really cool, honorable things I have done.

The Vietnam Memorial Travelling Wall escort ride started at exit #250 of I-25 and Hwy 56 just East of Berthoud. The ride, let by Loveland Police and the Combat Veterans Association made it's way West down Hwy 56 and through Berthoud.

Let me back up a bit and say that what we would see along the escort route was not quite what I had expected.  I think half the town was outside all waving flags and waving and it was like that all the way through Loveland and into Fort Collins as well.

The ride went up Taft/Shields from Berthoud and to see the hundreds of people standing outside their homes, cars and businesses was very humbling.  Many removed their hats as our flags came by and just as many covered their hearts with their hands and it was hard to fight back the tears seeing how joyous this crowd was vs. what it must have been like back in 1973 when these true hero's were spat upon.

This Memorial Day weekend please make it a point to stop by and see the Travelling Wall. It will be at the Veterans Plaza of Northern Coloado (2626 W Horsetooth Rd) in Fort Collins through Monday.  The main ceremony will be this Saturday, May 25th about 11:30 AM.
